We have the perfect Navy seal-inspired dress to wear out on a beach.
And the best part is that it’s super easy.
All you need is your favorite fabric, some scissors, a fabric brush, a little patience, and some time.
All of this makes for a really fun project that everyone can make at home.
You don’t even need to be a marine to do it.
Just a little knowledge and you can create a custom-made dress for yourself or for someone else.
And this pattern will work up quick, too.
We started by choosing fabrics that are easy to work with.
It’s not that the fabrics have to be really fancy.
We liked the Navy’s classic, soft cotton fabric and felt that it would be great for a dress.
But we also wanted something that would be easy to wash.
A little more work, but still really easy.
We picked the Navy Seal logo fabric.
It was the perfect choice for a sea-themed dress because it has a simple but bold look that looks good on a sea of bright colors.
You’ll need: 1-inch-thick cotton fabric that’s at least 2 inches wide by at least 4 inches long, depending on the fabric you use.
You can use other cotton fabrics, such as linen, but they’re not the same.
1/2-inch seam allowance, plus 1 inch for a top hem.
A fabric brush to use on the edges of the fabric.
A small fabric-blender.
Fabric scissors (optional).
A fabric-paper scraper.
The fabric brush is a nice, sturdy, disposable plastic tube with a handle.
Cut out the Navy seal logo fabric (we used this one, because it was easy to cut out and the colors are gorgeous).
It’s about an inch wide by about an eighth of an inch long.
Fold the fabric over itself.
This is a little tricky, but once you do, you should be able to cut it out to your liking.
It should be about the size of your thumb.
Start by making a seam allowance of about 1 inch.
You want to leave about an 8-inch edge in the seam.
You also want to keep the top hem of the dress about an eight-inch long.
Now that you’ve done that, cut the fabric into four pieces.
We chose the navy seal blue (the Navy’s blue), navy seal green (the navy’s green), navy and navy blue (these are all colors of the same fabric), and navy and gray (the same fabric that we used for our dress).
Now, start sewing each piece.
Make sure you make the seams as wide as you can, but don’t worry about doing too much.
Use the fabric scissors on the back of the piece you want to sew along.
If the fabric is a bit too wide, cut it in half.
Then, sew along the back half of the seam, starting at the front of the bottom half of fabric.
You should now have two pieces of fabric (the back and front pieces).
Next, sew the remaining two pieces together, starting from the front, and then finishing at the bottom of the top half of that fabric.
Finally, sew around the bottom edge of the last piece of fabric, and you should have four pieces of the Navy logo fabric sewn together.
To add a touch of flair to your dress, we added a fabric band at the top and at the back.
Sew the fabric around the band and pin it to the fabric in the back, along the seam allowance.
The result is a super cute, colorful, and very pretty dress that will be a hit with your friends and family.
We loved it so much that we decided to make it for a party!
